Joselyn Chaves

Lawyer and Notary Public

In today’s legal environment—where technical precision, strategic thinking, and genuine human understanding are equally essential—Joselyn Chaves has established herself as a rising legal professional known for her discipline, commitment, and unwavering dedication to every client and every matter she handles. Her practice combines strong academic credentials with litigation and notarial experience, allowing her to deliver comprehensive, efficient, and highly personalized legal solutions.

From the beginning of her legal career, Joselyn has demonstrated a strong commitment to legal scholarship, analytical thinking, and technical excellence. She began her studies at Universidad Internacional de las Américas in 2014 and completed her legal education with the successful defense of her thesis, “Evaluation of the Deferred Appeal Remedy under the Costa Rican Civil Procedure Code in Relation to the Principle of Procedural Efficiency.” Her academic work reflected an early interest in judicial efficiency and the effective protection of individual rights.

During law school, she completed her public service legal internship with the Public Defender’s Office of the First Judicial Circuit of San José, working in the flagrancy division during after-hours shifts. This experience strengthened her ability to analyze and respond effectively in complex, high-pressure legal environments.

Joselyn began her professional career at firms focused on judicial collections and litigation, where she developed practical experience in dispute resolution and debt recovery matters. She later expanded her practice into government procurement, notarial law, and registry law while working at a recognized specialized firm, further refining her technical and structured approach to legal practice.

In 2018, she joined BGA Abogados, initially becoming part of the firm’s Labor and Education Law Department, where she actively participated in litigation strategy, legal advisory services, and conflict resolution matters. Over time, her professional growth and continued academic development allowed her to strengthen her practice particularly in the areas of Estate Planning, Probate, and Inheritance Law, becoming one of the firm’s trusted attorneys for highly sensitive and complex succession and wealth-transfer matters.

Joselyn is recognized for her meticulous, responsible, and client-centered approach. Her strong work ethic, combined with a genuine commitment to client service and continuous professional development, positions her as one of the most promising emerging attorneys within the firm.

Her ongoing academic training reflects a genuine commitment to professional excellence and staying at the forefront of legal developments. She is currently completing a Master’s Degree in Business Law at ULACIT, while also complementing her education with international studies in Civil Liability at the Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha in Spain. This combination of litigation experience, human sensitivity, and advanced legal training enables her to provide modern, strategic, and highly reliable legal counsel.

In addition to her litigation practice, Joselyn has specialized training in mediation, conciliation, and notarial and registry law, allowing her to approach disputes from a preventive, strategic, and solution-oriented perspective.
